The two-day event of Advantage Karnataka started at the Palace Grounds in Bangalore in which over 2000 business persons are reported to take part and about 400 MoUs would be signed with respect to the investments. Earlier one such event was held in the year 2000.

The key industries where the investments will be made are biotechnology, information technology, aerospace, tourism, power, health, textile, automobile and education.

In the previous such meet, which was held ten years ago, Karnataka has attracted an investment of Rs 13,000 crore, reports said.

Major business personalities including Vijay Mallya, Lakshmi N Mittal, Kumar Mangalam Birla, Lakshmi N Mittal would be attending the meet.

The Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa has invited the investors to invest in Karnataka and assured of providing all the support to the investors in the meet. He said that the meet should result in increasing the investments to two folds and provide more employment opportunities.

About the metro rail project, the CM said that the project would be commissioned by the year end. The state also has plans to invest about Rs 20,000 crore in the tourism sector.
